Our Expeditions:

Near by Expeditions, 1-2 nights

Delta Express

One night / two days offered by major tour operators in Venezuela mostly from Margarita Island as part of a 8-10 days circuit. The circuits include Orinoco Delta, Gran Sabana, Caripe (Guacharo Cave) and Canaima (Angel Falls). Most of these trips are booked in advance in Europe.

Delta Short Break: Three days - Two nights

Day 1

Arriving at Tucupita or Boca de Uracoa where our boats will be waiting on the river. The time depends on agreement. We bring you to the Orinoco Delta Lodge where you check in to your cabin and rest a little. Lunch will be served at 1:00 O’clock (if it is included in your package).

After lunch, we take a boat ride through small rivers to observe the flora and fauna, the fresh water dolphins and a spectacular Delta sunset. Back to the camp at 6:30 pm and dinner is served at 8

 

Day 2

Wake up to the sounds of the jungle and breakfast at 8:00 AM. After breakfast, we take you to remote area of the Delta (Guenamorena), we will travel to our Jakara Camp (rustic but comfortable). During the boat ride you will visit the Warao indians, taking a glimpse of their way of life and discover many small rivers with extensive vegetation.

Lunch is served in the Jungle at Jakara Camp.

In the afternoon a jungle walk with experienced guides to venture into this mysterious world of the Warao Indians.

Back to Orinoco Delta Lodge at 6:30 PM. Dinner served at 8:00 PM

 

Day 3

Breakfast served at 8:00 Am. After breakfast, boat ride into the small rivers to observe the birdlife and fish for piranha.Then a canoe ride indian style. After this we will visit the Warao children school sponsored by the Orinoco Delta Lodge.
Lunch is at 12 noon (if it is included in your package) and then back to your port of entry Boca de Uracoa or Tucupita.

Far out Expeditions, 3-5 nights


Expedition Jakara 3 nights:

Orinoco Delta Lodge, Jakara Camp, and Orinoco Delta Lodge.

Day 1

Arrive at Tucupita or Boca de Uracoa port, boats will be waiting on the river, time depends on agreement. Arrive at the Orinoco Delta Lodge. Check in to your cabin where you can rest a little. Lunch is served at 1:00 O’clock (if it is included in your package). After lunch, a boat ride through small rivers to observe the flora and fauna, the fresh water dolphins and a spectacular Orinoco Delta sunset. Back to the camp at 6:30 pm. Dinner is served at 8:00 PM. Sleeping will be in cabins with beds and private bathrooms.

Day 2

Wake up to the jungle sounds and take breakfast at 8:00 AM. After breakfast we will take you to a remote area of the Delta (Guinamorena), heading to Jakara Camp (rustic but comfortable our latest addition). Lunch served at the camp in the Jungle. In the afternoon we take a canoe ride to visit the Warao Indians and learn a few interesting facts about their life style and survival techniques. In the evening we take a Night trip to search for alligators before or after dinner depending on the river conditions. Sleeping in Hammocks, shared bathroom.

Day 3

After breakfast we board the canoes again and venture deep in the jungle through a very small river. Your Indian guide will locate an excellent spot for a perfect jungle walk. For those of you who have never been in the jungle before (most guests), the experience is unforgettable. With the silence of the jungle occasionally interrupted by freaky birds screams and the pungent smells around you blending with a blanket of humidity. There are dense galleries of crawling plants and giant trees racing for rations of scarce sun light, a perfect none human system in an imperfect human world. Back to camp lunch served. After lunch a visit to Guenamorena Indian community, in the afternoon we return to the Orinoco Delta Lodge and to the comfort of your beds and private bathrooms. Dinner served.

Day 4

After breakfast we will take a boat trip to fish the fierce infamous piranhas. If you catch any we can fry them for a snack. Lunch served (if it is included in your package). Back to the port of entry and to the real world.

Expedition Simoina 4 nights:

Orinoco Delta Lodge, Jakara Camp, Simoina Camp, Orinoco Delta Lodge.

Sleeping in a hammocks (mosquito netted), we will fish for Tarpon in a small tributary in the jungle and search for caimans with spotlights at night. Cross the jungle in a canoe through a 1-2m wide canal, which was dug out by the Indians about 80 years ago, to access some rich fishing and hunting grounds.

On this excursion you will spend the first and the last night in our base camp (Orinoco Delta Lodge), the other night(s) in our rustic camps, Jakara, Simoina.

Day 3

After breakfast we head for Simoina Camp. The name comes from Simoina River which means "Land of Honey" in the Warao Indian's language.
Simoina camp is a simple and rustic structure situated deep inside the jungle. It consists of a few typical Indian style dwellings, one big thatched roof house for sleeping, dining room with a bar overlooking the river, a kitchen and shared bathrooms.

When we arrive lunch will be served. After lunch, a long canoe ride through small rivers to observe the wild life of the area. Night trip to search for alligators before or after dinner depending on the river conditions. Sleeping in Hammocks, shared bathroom.

Day 4

Following breakfast we board the canoes again and venture deep in the jungle. Through a very small river, your Indian guide will locate the ideal spot for a perfect jungle walk. For those of you who have never been in the jungle before (most guests), the experience is unforgettable. The silence of the jungle occasionally interrupted by freaky birds screams.

There are pungent smells of the jungle blending with a blanket of humidity, and galleries of creeping plants and giant trees racing for rations of scarce sun light. A perfect none human system in an imperfect human world. Back to camp where lunch served. After lunch, a visit to a Guinamorena Indian community and then in the afternoon back to Orinoco Delta Lodge and to the comfort of your beds and private bathrooms. Dinner served.

Day 5

After you have eaten breakfast we will board a boat. Here our guide will take you on a journey to a location in the delta where we will stop to fish for piranha. We will give you poles and bait the hooks with raw meat {a favourite for piranha}.

If you are successful you can bring them back to the camp and we can prepare them for a snack. Lunch will be served (if it is included in your package), then we take you back to your port of entry where you can return to the modern world.

Expedition Orinoco Atlantic 5 nights:

Orinoco Delta Lodge, Jakara Camp, Simoina Camp, Orinoco Atlantic Lodge, and Orinoco Delta Lodge.

Day 1

Lunch served in the Jungle at the camp. In the afternoon a canoe ride to visit the Warao Indians and learn some interesting facts about their life style and survival techniques. Dinner served, sleeping in Hammocks, shared bathroom.

After breakfast we travel to our Simoina Camp. The name Simoina means "River of Honey" in the Warao language. Simoina camp is a simple and rustic establishment situated deep inside the jungle. After lunch we start our trip to the mouth of The Orinoco River at the northern edge of the Orinoco Delta on the Atlantic Ocean. This is where the fresh, glossy Orinoco waters blend with the sea. At this location Christopher Columbus, on his third expedition to the new world, decided that he had discovered a new continent and not an island from the tremendous amount of fresh water pouring out from the river. Noticing the extensive vegetation and the giant mangrove trees lining the shores, he said "this must be the earthly paradise".

In the afternoon we will arrive at the Cotura Island to witness one of the most spectacular sunsets on the planet. On the border line of the Orinoco and the Atlantic, this Island is home for thousands of birds returning from a busy feeding day to sleep. Parrots, Parakeets, Scarlet Ibis, Egrets, Spoon bill, and many more. Drinks will be served on the boat then back to the Orinoco Atlantic Lodge. Enjoy a cocktail at our cozy bar over looking the river and dinner is served at 8.00pm. Sleeping in cabins with beds and private bathrooms.

Day 5

After breakfast a short fishing break for those interested at the lodge dock. Later we visit the fishing town Pedernales and then we return for lunch at the lodge. After lunch a visit to a Guenamorena Indian community then we go Back to Orinoco Delta Lodge where Dinner is served. Sleeping in cabins with beds and private bathrooms.

Day 6

After breakfast we will take a boat trip to fish the fierce infamous piranhas. Bring back a couple and we will prepare them. Lunch served (if it is included in your package) following which we return you to the port of entry and to the civilised world.

Important Information


Life jackets on boats are required by law.

No smoking on moving boats. However there are some stops where you can smoke. Check with your guide. Cigarettes butts stays on board.

Caution walking on floors and walkways when wet, or dry.

To prevent Mosquitoes from entering your cabin, open and close the door fast.

Never leave the door open.

Electricity is available in your cabin from 6:00 AM until 11:00 PM.

Candles are available in your cabin. Be very careful where you place the them. Make sure they are far from wooden walls and Mosquitoes screen. Best place on bathroom floor.

Do not put any objects in toilet including toilet paper. Please dispose in garbage bin.

Check and shake your shoes and clothes for foreign objects.
